His art, which spans across paint, collage, wood, photography, found objects, and discarded materials, is a reflection of his extraordinary life and adventures. Tunney's contribution to art is further exemplified by his presence in the Wynwood Walls of Miami, where he has maintained a gallery for eight years. This award dinner celebrates influential figures in the art world, joining the ranks of past honorees such as Mel Ramos, Martha Cooper, Shepard Fairey, Logan Hicks, Ron English, and Risk.
Julian Navarro, the Director of Art Wynwood, highlights the event's significance, attracting a diverse audience of collectors, curators, art consultants, and aficionados from around the world. The 2024 edition is set to offer a captivating mix of emerging and established galleries, alongside special projects and solo exhibitions, enriching the contemporary art scene.
Silvia Karman Cubiñá, the Executive Director and Chief Curator for The Bass Museum, shares her enthusiasm about the partnership with Art Wynwood, emphasizing its role in enhancing Miami's stature as a pivotal hub for contemporary art. The event not only provides a platform for discovering emerging international artists but also for acquiring new artworks.
Adding to the excitement, Art Wynwood 2024 will run concurrently with the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show, offering an additional attraction with an impressive in-water display of yachts and superyachts by leading custom boat builders, just next to the art fair. This confluence of art and maritime luxury promises a unique and enriching experience for all attendees.
