“KIRBYVISION” A TRIBUTE TO JACK KIRBY
Downtown Los Angeles’ Corey Helford Gallery (CHG) is thrilled to announce their latest major group show collaboration, Kirbyvision: A Tribute to Jack Kirby, in partnership with the Jack Kirby Museum & Research Center. This exclusive event, set to debut on Saturday, June 29th, and be on view through August 3rd, promises to be a spectacular homage to one of the most influential and prolific creators in the history of comics.
Celebrating a Comic Book Legend
Jack Kirby, often hailed as the "King of Comics," left an indelible mark on the world of comic books and popular culture. He is the creative genius behind iconic characters like Captain America, the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, the X-Men, the Hulk, Darkseid, and the New Gods, among hundreds of others. Kirby's groundbreaking work continues to inspire artists and fans alike, and this tribute aims to showcase the profound impact he has had on the medium.
A Star-Studded Lineup of New Contemporary Artists
The exhibition will feature new and original, one-of-a-kind artwork inspired by Kirby from over 70 top artists in the New Contemporary art scene. This remarkable roster includes talents such as A. Sunter of Kai & Sunny, Ana Bagayan, Andrea Mutti, Atta Boy, Bruce Simon, Eric Joyner, Luke Chueh, Mariko, Martin Meunier, Patrick McDonnell, Richard Ahnert, Ryan Heshka, Simone Legno of Tokidoki, Skinner, The London Police, Tim Seeley, Tom Morehouse, Yulia Pustoshkina, and many more.
The Immortal Art of Jack Kirby
Kirby's career, spanning over half a century, pushed the boundaries of comic art and storytelling. His dynamic and innovative style brought characters and stories to life with a sense of motion and energy that few have matched. Hallmarks of his work, such as the famous "Kirby Krackle," have become staples in the visual language of comics, symbolizing otherworldly cosmic energies. Kirby's intricate costume designs, iconic headgear, and unique machinery continue to captivate and inspire new generations of artists.
A Visionary Tribute
Bruce Helford, co-owner of CHG, shares his excitement for the exhibition: “While I was raised to appreciate Modern Art, it’s always been my dream, as a comic collector, to have a show with Jack Kirby. And now I have one and I hope it inspires everyone else the way it inspired me. His work is thrilling, dynamic, fun and if it doesn’t make you want to burst into flames, or stretch your arm around the block or surf the stars, then I don’t know what will.”
